NBR 5580 Galvanized Steel Pipe Product Information
To ensure efficiency and quality of pipes, the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards, ABNT, published the Brazilian Standard – NBR 5580. The objective of the standard is to establish requirements for the manufacture and supply of carbon steel pipe, with longitudinal weld, with or without zinc coating, aimed at conducting various items such as water, gas, steam, among other non-corrosive fluids. The standard determines the dimensions, masses and protections for type pipes, as well as their manufacturing, coating and supply processes. It also defines the tests and inspections to which pipes are subjected. Similar standard: DIN EN 10255.

• Material: Hot-dip galvanized carbon steel;
• Coating: Zinc layer applied using the hot galvanizing process, with a minimum thickness in accordance with applicable standards;
• Length: Bars from 5.8 to 6 meters (or as required by the project)
• Wall Thickness: According to applicable NBR, ASTM or DIN standards;

Galvanized Pipes Performance Characteristics：
Working Pressure: The pipes withstand the working pressure for medium class piping of the NBR 5580 standard;
Corrosion Resistance: Due to the galvanization process, the gi pipes have high resistance to corrosion, suitable for use in drinking water supply systems;
Connectivity: The pipe allows secure and watertight connections with other system components (valves, fittings, etc.) through standard threads or other appropriate techniques.

Flat ends : Straight, burr-free cut ;
Beveled ends : Straight cut with edge machining at tube ends;
Threaded ends : Thread cutting BSP or (NBR 5580 pipes) or NPT (NBR 5590 grades A and B pipes) according to the pipe standard; threads
protected with anti-corrosive oil and plastic caps ;
Grooved ends : Grooved ends are manufactured with roll grooved ends, for use in transport lines with rigid or flexible cold connections, conferring agility, ease, and versatility in installation.
